A suit built over dozens of hours, undone by one wrong clean.
Mayfair is home to Savile Row and the highest concentration of specialist tailors in the world. A suit built on the Row is cut to the client’s measurements over several fittings, with hand-stitched canvas, hand-set sleeves and finishing that takes dozens of hours. That investment is destroyed incrementally by a cleaner using perchloroethylene: the solvent strips the natural oils from the wool, flattens the hand-stitched canvas and dulls the colour the tailor chose with the client.
Blanc cleans tailored garments without PERC. Liquid CO₂ and biodegradable wet cleaning preserve the drape, the hand and the colour the tailor intended, and the jacket is finished section by section rather than under a flat press. A suit cleaned correctly keeps its structure for years. A suit cleaned with PERC loses it within months. The cleaning method is the variable most owners never think to question.
