One exacting standard

The risk

Curtain cleaning without shrinkage

Lined curtains are among the most frequently damaged items in standard cleaning, and the reason is structural. The face fabric and the lining are made of different materials with different shrinkage rates.
A cleaning cycle that suits the outer fabric may shrink the lining, pulling the curtain out of shape permanently. BLANC assesses each curtain individually before selecting a method.

The face fabric, lining, any interlining and the heading are assessed first. Temperature and agitation are set to the most shrinkage-prone layer, not the most durable one. The method is set by the most fragile layer, never the most convenient one.

Three household items where the wrong method causes visible damage:
  • Curtains: Lined, interlined and unlined, each assessed first.
  • Duvets: Down and synthetic, returned with their loft.
  • Throws and blankets: Wool, cashmere, cotton and blends.
Returned the same size and shape they arrived, ready to go back in place.

Why Household Textiles Need Professional Care

Household textiles are cleaned less often than clothing, and that has more to do with logistics than neglect.

A shirt goes in a laundry bag. A duvet does not fit in a washing machine at home, and a lined curtain cannot be taken down, washed and rehung without help. That gap, between what needs specialist cleaning and what is practical to clean yourself, is what BLANC exists to close.

Curtains absorb cooking fumes, dust and airborne pollutants over years. Fabric sofas are more inclined to trap allergens that a surface vacuum never reaches, and pillows accumulate residue quickly, so regular professional cleaning matters more than most people expect.

What we clean

The everyday pieces, cared for the same way

Bed linen and pillows are the household items in most frequent contact with you, and the ones most worth cleaning properly. Every piece is assessed individually before cleaning begins.
  • Pressed and folded: Bed linen returned ready to use.
  • Filling-matched: Down and synthetic pillows treated differently.
  • Couture standard: The same care as a couture gown.
Household textiles are large, heavy and awkward to transport. BLANC collects from your address, and the driver handles the duvet, the curtains and the upholstery covers. Cleaned items return to your door, folded or hung, ready to go back in place, using the same approach as our dry cleaning service.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bed linen, duvets, pillows, curtains, upholstery, throws and table linen. Every item is individually assessed before cleaning, the same standard applied to garments.

Yes. No perchloroethylene is used at any stage, on garments or household textiles.

Yes, when the face fabric and the lining are assessed separately and the method is set to the more shrinkage-prone layer. This is the specific risk standard cleaning does not account for

At least twice a year for pillows, and at the change of season for duvets, more often if allergies are a concern

Yes. Collection and delivery are free on orders over £30. The driver handles the item, so you do not need to transport it yourself.

Large household pieces and curtains generally take one to three weeks, longer than the 48 to 72 hour standard for garments, given their size and the additional handling involved. Turnaround is confirmed at the time of collection.
